The future is bright at Park – Park Colts graduate to the clubs senior teams

Its been a special season for our Colts

A large number of this seasons colts teams have now signed up to play for our senior sides for the coming season. Tom Haslam, Evan Lloyd, James Dexter, Bruce McGrogan, Liam Geary, Dan Marquand, Taylor Cameron, Alex De Keyser, Frankie Davenport, Charlie Hyde, Jack England and Henry Bamber are all now eligible to play senior rugby and have all signed up to the club.

For the 2022/3 season our clubs under  17 and 18 players joined together to form a senior colt’s squad. The two groups of players jelled immediately and have created a close-knit team who have worked really hard for their success and have developed into one of the best Colts teams the club has ever produced.

Early in the season the lads won the Colts preliminary C league which saw them promoted into the B league against stronger opposition. They won the B league going unbeaten in all league games during the season.

League success was not to be the end. Park progressed to the finals of the Cheshire Cup and  the Halbro League cup. While they ended up runners up in both competitions  players and coaches should be very proud of everything that they have achieved this season. This group of players have shown a fantastic work effort training twice a week throughout the season to improve. Many of the squad will still be eligible to play for next seasons colts who will be joined by players from years under 16 squad. It will be a difficult act to follow but the experience gained this season will hold them in good stead.

Charlie Hyde and Ben Thorn represented and captained Cheshire U 18s and Under 17 age groups during the season while Rhys Dixon has been signed up to the Sale academy squad for next season

Four players from our colts squad made their first XV debuts in the 2021/2 season and a further 5 have played for our 2^nd and 3^rdXV teams. We hope more will progress to our senior teams over the course of next season and that with teams at every age group from U 6 – U18 we have a production line of talent joining up for our senior teams every year. We look forward to these players wearing the club colours on Saturday afternoons for many years to come.
