Park storm to Papa John Community Shield Victory

Park won a tense battle V Newbold on Avon in the Papa John Community Shield final on Sunday. The final played at the fabulous Darlington arena turned into a memorable day for Park who ran out winners 37 – 20.

It has been a magnificent cup run for Park beating Pocklington, Old Crossleyans and Crewe & Nantwich on the way to reach the final.

Park ,who had a nervy start to the game going 10 – 3 behind in the early stages fought back to Win 37 – 20. 2 tries from Tom King, a brilliant try from Charlie Hyde and 2 conversions and 6 penalties from Ben Elliot saw Park deservedly lift the trophy despite the game being an even contest for the majority of the game.

Parks 22-man squad contained 20 home grown players who have all gone through the club excellent mini and junior sections. Chairman Paul Dean said “ It was an emotional day and a fabulous occasion. As a club we are so proud that so many of our youngsters get the opportunity to play for the 1st XV  on days like these and its even better when we win competitions after what has been a tough but really successful season” 3 of the squad played in the Colts Cheshire Cup victory last weekend.
