The league season has finished for all our Mens teams with the focus now on the cup competitions.
Parks 1st XV finished 8th in the Reginal 2 North West league which achieved our pre-season ambition to secure a place in this league for next season. Park, who were at the foot of the table in December, had an excellent 2nd half of the season once they had adapted to the requirements of the league following last season’s promotion. Injuries and squad availability also impeded on performances the first half of the season but Park will look forward to next season with some confidence feeling they are now established at this level. It is the 1st time Park have played at this level since the 2007 – 08 season.
Parks 2nd XV finished 4th in the Halbro division 3 south league. Like the 1st XV they had a strong end to the season after a difficult 1st half of the season. The second half of the season saw some consistency in team selection and performances improved dramatically. Our aim next season is to really push for promotion from this League.
Parks 3rd XV finished 6th in the Halbro division 4 west league. An excellent season for the 3rd team despite being low on numbers for several games during the season. When at full strength they were a match for anyone as victories against both Helsby and Northwich confirmed. This is the ideal league for our 3rd team to bring on younger players from our Colts teams which they have successfully done again this season.
Parks 1st XV were due to play Pocklington away in the RFU community cup 2nd round.
Sadly they have conceded the fixture so Park now progress to the ¼ final to be played on 22nd April. The draw will be made on 18th April when we will learn of our opponent. Fingers crossed for a Home draw.
Our 2nd team play Prenton 1st XV on Saturday 15th April at Home with a 3PM KO.
This is the ¼ final of the cup with Park 2nds already beaten Liverpool St Helens and Heaton Moor to progress in the competition. A tough encounter is expected this Saturday but buoyed on by a home crowd we would love to progress through to the semi-final stage.
Our Colts have had another excellent season. We have won the Halbro Colts League B for the 2nd year running.
The lads now look forward to playing in Halbro League Colts senior cup final on Sunday 30th April V Wirral having beaten Waterloo, Liverpool St Helens and Littleborough to reach the final . The game is being played at Eccles Rugby club with a 3.30 KO. Last season we lost in the final so we hope to go one better but will face a real test against Wirral who finished 3rd in the Colts A League.
Good Luck to all our teams in the cup competitions
