Old Crossleyans await in the quarter final of the Papa John community cup
Park have drawn to play Old Crossleyans in the quarter finals of the Papa John community cup. The tie will be held at Burrows Hill on Saturday 22nd April with a 3pm Kick Off.
The Halifax based outfit earned their place in the quarter final after defeating Wilmslow 21 – 20 last weekend. Park have played Wilmslow twice this season winning one and losing one. Old Crossleyans finished 10th place in the regional 2 North East League winning 9 games. A very similar position to Park in the North West league so we expect a tight contest with the winner progressing through tom the semi-final to be played on the 29th April.
The lads, as always, will appreciate a big home crowd to cheer them on.
Last Saturday our 2nd XV were knocked out of the Halbro cup by Prenton. The final score was 22 – 22 with the Prenton progressing as the away side. A disappointing end to what has been a good season for our 2nd XV. An exciting game which either side could have won. From Parks perspective we felt we missed some opportunities to win the game but I am sure Prenton will feel the same. The lads were devasted at the end of the game but will bounce back next season.
Prenton were a good set of lads and had a great travelling support. We wish them well in the semi-final next week.
Dates for your diaries
Our Colts look forward to playing in the Halbro League Colts senior cup final on Sunday 30th April V Wirral. The game is to be played at Eccles Rugby club with a 3.30 KO. Last season we lost in the final so we hope to go one better but will face a real test against Wirral who finished 3rd in the Colts A League. Travelling support as always is appreciated by the lads.
On Friday 23rd May we have an Under 23s match – Winnington Park V Sandbach. A great opportunity to see the upcoming talent at the club who have all come through our fantastic mini and junior section. A 7.30 Kick off under the lights and another opportunity to support our lads.
