At 4pm on Thursday 7th March 2024, Northwich NARPO will be hosting an evening with Steve Wilkins at Winnington Park Rugby Football Club, Burrows Hill , Northwich,CW83AA.
Retired Detective Chief Superintendent Steve Wilkins will be talking about his co-authored book ‘The Pembrokeshire Murders’ which tells the full story Operation Ottawa, the painstaking investigation which resulted in the conviction of the serial killer, John William Cooper.
Operation Ottawa has been identified as one of the finest investigations in the history of British Policing and is the blueprint for subsequent cold case investigations. In 2021 the case was the subject of a three part ITV crime drama.
Steve is a former Cheshire Detective joining the force in 1980. He transferred to Dyfed-Powys Police in 1992 and has extensive experience in CID 30 years of his 33 years service as a detective.
He was seconded to the National Criminal intelligence Service as Head of Region for the North West of England and prior to returning to force he was the Head of intelligence for the UK.
He returned to Dyfed - Powys Police as Detective Superintendent to work as Senior Investigating Officer on numerous cases.
He also worked closely with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in trying to secure justice for the family of Kirsty Jones who was murdered in Thailand in 2000.
This will be a great event to anyone who has an interest in criminal investigative successes for both retired, current people involved in law enforcement and the general public.
