1st team fixtures for 2022/3 – Plans for the season ramping up
Plans for the coming season continue at a pace during the summer break.
Renovation work to our pitches has been completed and all pitches will be ready go when pre-season training commences for the men’s teams on Thursday 7th July at 7pm.Training will then take place every Tuesday and Thursday at 7pm until the league season starts on Sat 3rd September.
The season starts with a home fixture V Altrincham Kersal. Our 1st XV return to level 6 of the RFU playing structure for the 2022/3 season which will be a challenging but very exciting season where we will meet old adversaries and acquaintances . This will be our 1st season playing at this level since the 2007/8 season.
Our 2nd and 3rd team remain in the same leagues as last season but fixtures are yet to be released.
Changes have been made to our coaching structure with Ben Elliot returning as a player coach and former club Captain Dave Nicholls also joining our coaching team. We are also looking to appoint a player forwards coach along with a 2nd team forwards coach. We hope to be able to update on this very soon.
Player recruitment continues following the exciting signing of Ben Elliot and 12 of last seasons colts joining the senior squad for the coming season. Discussions are ongoing with several players to bolster our senior squads and we are expecting a number of players to sign up before the season starts. We have a number of plyers returning from University who will also add to the depth of our senior squads.
Pre-season friendlies have been agreed with West Park, Aspull and Warrington on the weekends of 13th,20th and 27th August to make sure our teams are ready to go at the start of the league campaigns.
Our O2 touch rugby (non contact) takes place every Thursday at 7pm during the close season which is a great way to prepare for the coming season. Our inter club O2 touch rugby tournament takes place on Sat 23rd July at Burrows Hill.
