After a run of 5 defeats in a row Park were looking to get back to winning ways against Tarleton, though below Park in the League, have lost very narrowly in the games that they have lost. They have 9 bonus points which highlights that they score plenty of tries.
Park started positive with some great linked up team play with the forwards and backs for Chris Twigg to make ground before he was tacked the ball was recycled with some great play by Shaun Underdown to pass out to Alex Gendinning to skip through three players to score the first points of the day.
The conversion was missed.
The lead was short lived with some sloppy tackling by Park to let Tarleton in with an easy try and points kicked.
They went further ahead with a penalty for off side.
Just before the half time whistle Park narrowed the gap to 8 to 10 with a penalty after a Tarleton player was judged to have tipped a player in a tackle and was given a yellow card.
The second half started with Ryan Williams being replaced with Alex Burrage. Park put pressure on Tarleton and were awarded a penalty for a player not rolling away and Cameron Flanagan took the points to go in the lead.
This was short lived with Tarleton coming straight back with a again some poor tackling from Park to score under the posts. The kick was converted.
Tarleton added further misery to the watching home crowd with a drop goal.
Park raised there game and started to play some good rugby and were awarded a penalty after a Tarleton player threw the ball away as thy tried to take a quick penalty. The player was yellow carded but the penalty kick was missed.
Park continued to put pressure on the opposition and the effort was rewarded with a push over try by second row Ben Cann who had a great game after some weeks out with injury.
The kick was missed leaving Park trailing 16 to 20. Once again they had left it to late and although had a strong finish could not get over the line.
A disappointing day with another defeat and the team desperate to stop this bad run.
Park are again at home next week hosting Manchester who are presently second in the league after winning 8 of there 9 league games this season.
